The grocery store can be intimidating when shopping for gluten free food if you don't know the layout. Here are some tips that help me find food I can eat.
- Stick to the perimeter of the store. Your gluten free and healthiest options can be found here like fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and dairy.
- Research the ingredients you need before you go to the store.
- Ask an employee if they have a gluten free section. This is where I find most of the gluten free substitutes like soy sauce, oats, bread, crackers, etc.
- Read the label. Most food will list allergens at the bottom of the ingredient list.

I try to not buy a lot of gluten free pasta, bread, and crackers because a lot these products are low in fiber and higher in calories. However, when I am craving these foods, here are some of my favorites:
- Amy's Rice Mac & Cheese (I like to add broccoli and Tabasco smoky pepper sauce)
- Any brand of chickpea pasta. It's much more flavorful than rice pasta.
